2020 Conference & Bookfair Registration

Conference events begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2020, and conclude at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020. The bookfair is open 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. from Thursday, March 5, to Saturday, March 7, 2020.

Registration includes admission to AWP’s bookfair, meetings, panels, readings, and public receptions for the duration of the conference period. Meals, lodging, and travel are not included. Hotel & Travel information on lodging at AWP’s official conference hotels is scheduled to be released on Monday, August 12, 2020.

The purchase of a bookfair table or booth includes two complimentary Bookfair Setup Access (BSA) registrations, which also allow full access to the conference and bookfair.

Students, faculty, and staff of sponsoring institutions should check with their program or organization before purchasing a registration on their own. You may be eligible for a complimentary sponsor registration.

All conference registrations must be purchased online or onsite with a credit or debit card. We do not accept checks or cash. All sales are final and nonrefundable.

**** The Saturday Pass can only be purchased onsite on Saturday, March 7, 2020, and includes admission to all conference events (with the exception of private receptions) as well as the bookfair.

Registration Confirmation

You will receive a confirmation email at the address you provided under your registration information during purchase. Please ensure that your email address is correct when registering. You may change the name and affiliation at any point before Wednesday, March 4, 2020, on the Conference Registration Management page of your AWP user account.

Will-call Registration

After preregistration ends on Thursday, January 2, 2020, you can register online at the will-call rate.  All registrations purchased online can be printed at the conference during the hours listed below.

Checking In at the Conference

All registrations will be printed onsite at the Henry B. González Convention Center at a registration kiosk. These kiosks will allow you to both print a prepurchased registration and purchase a new registration. Each prepurchased registration will be assigned a unique registration code, which will be included in the confirmation email sent to each attendee after a purchase has been made. Please save this information and bring it with you to the conference and bookfair, as you will need it to print and pick up your registration materials onsite.

Students and seniors who registered at their respective rates will be required to show a valid student or government-issued ID in order to print their registrations.

Sponsor & Literary Partner Registrations

As a benefit for supporting the conference, all sponsors and literary partners receive an allocated number of registration waivers, based on their level of sponsorship. Confirmed sponsors and partners will be contacted by AWP with instructions for submitting their waiver lists. All lists must be received by February 4, 2020. Unclaimed waivers will be forfeited.

Press Passes

We appreciate all coverage of our annual conference. Requests for press passes must be made in writing from the editor of the media organization, on behalf of the journalist, to registration@awpwriter.org by February 18, 2020. Press passes are only issued to print media journalists who work for an organization with a minimum of 10,000 subscribers, or to digital media journalists who work for an organization with a website that has a minimum of 100,000 unique visitors a month. The request must specifically detail how the pass will be used to cover the conference. Once a press pass is issued, the journalist attending must present valid press credentials to the kiosk attendant so that they may receive their conference registration. Photography, videography, and sound recordings are not permitted at the conference without AWP’s written consent.
