Not all graduate students in creative writing seek teaching jobs after graduation. How might you prepare for the editorial job market while earning your creative writing degree? The editors on this panel share how they landed editorial positions soon after—or even during—their graduate studies.

Moderator:

Aaron Alford's writing appears in Oxford American, Bellingham Review, Memoir, Hobart online, River Teeth, the Los Angeles Review, Sonora Review, and elsewhere. He earned a PhD in literature and creative writing at Texas Tech University and serves as managing editor of Southern Humanities Review.

Ariel Lewiton is director of marketing and publicity for Sarabande Books and contributing editor at Guernica. Her writing has appeared in Vice, Catapult, Ninth Letter, the Paris Review Daily, and elsewhere. She holds an MFA in nonfiction from the University of Iowa.

Ashley Strosnider is the managing editor of Prairie Schooner at the University of Nebraska. Her fiction, poetry, and reviews have appeared in multiple journals.

Kyle Lucia Wu is the managing editor of Joyland and a PEN prison writing mentor. She has an MFA in fiction from The New School.
