What do AWP caucuses do? Why are they important? Want to form a caucus or become more active? Come hear from minority caucus leaders—African Diaspora, Indigenous, Latino, LGBTQ—on the state of AWP's caucus system. Learn about the information sharing and the work our united caucuses are doing. Join one of the special initiatives launched to improve the AWP annual conference for everyone. Presenters will also offer a comprehensive guide to caucus events and volunteer opportunities at #AWP17.


Participants

Moderator:

Miguel M. Morales grew up as a migrant farmworker. He is president of the LGBTQ Caucus and the Latino Writers Collective. He is a Lambda Literary Fellow and a Macondo Writers Workshop and VONA/Voices alum. His work appears in Primera PáginaCuentos del Centro, and Borderlands Texas Poetry Review.

Bojan Louis is the author of the nonfiction chapbook Troubleshooting Silence in Arizona. His poems, fiction, and essays can be found in the Kenyon Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, As/Us Journal, and elsewhere. Louis is an instructor of English at Arizona State University.

Ruben Quesada is the author of Next Extinct Mammal and Luis Cernuda: Exiled from the Throne of Night. He is a poet and a freelance editor. He is currently editor of Queen Mob's Teahouse.

Alyss Dixson is an award winning writer-producer. She studied comparative literature at Yale, film at Columbia University, and creative writing at SFSU. She won the Joseph Henry Jackson award, fellowships from Cave Canem Foundation and Callaloo Workshop, and she has been published in Callaloo, Day One, and the Atlantic.

Tiffany Ferentini is the current marketing manager for Monkey Business International and the vice president of the LGBTQ Caucus. Their work has appeared in the Gambler; Off the Rocks, the LGBTQ Anthology of Newtown Writers Press; and Songs of My Selfie: An Anthology of Millennial Writing.
