S147. Literary Adventures in Paradise: Celebrating FLAC's 10th Anniversary

On its 10th anniversary, the Florida Literary Arts Coalition recounts how a nonprofit network dedicated to writing and independent publishing grew to serve college students, writers, faculty, program directors, editors, publishers, and K-12 teachers and students. FLAC hosts the annual Other Words Conference and the Florida Writer's Circuit. The panel discusses how to raise funds, advertise, build, and serve a culturally and artistically diverse region.

Moderator:

Elisabeth Lanser-Rose is the author of the novel, Body Sharers and the memoir For the Love of a Dog. Body Sharers placed among the top-five finalists for the PEN/Hemingway Foundation Award for Best First Novel. With an MFA from Penn State, she teaches in Florida.

James M. Wilson is president of the Florida Literary Arts Coalition and the co-organizer of the "Other Words" Conference. He teaches fiction at Flagler College and has been fiction faculty at the Deep South Writers Festival of Writers and the University of North Florida Writers Conference.

Terri Witek is the author of four books of poems, most recently Exit Island, as well as a book about Robert Lowell's revisions and a comic book/poetry chapzine. She often collaborates with visual artist Cyriaco Lopes,and directs the Sullivan Creative Writing Program at Stetson University.
