The Fulbright Information panel is composed of past Creative Writing Fulbright Fellows who tell of the application process, the experience, and the professional, creative, and personal benefits of this prestigious award. The Fulbright Program funds undergraduates, graduates, and at large writers to study, conduct research, or pursue creative activities abroad for a year. Our panelists went to the Philippines, Paraguay, and the Dominican Republic writing poetry, memoirs, nonfiction, and novels.

Moderator:

Katherine Arnoldi (Fulbright, Paraguay 2008-9), created the graphic novel The Amazing True Story of a Teenage Single Mom, All Things Are Labor: Stories. Her awards include two New York Foundation of the Arts Awards, along with the DeJur, Henfield, Juniper, and Newhouse awards.

Laurel Flores Fantauzzo is the author of The First Impulse. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, CNN, and Esquire Philippines. A 2016 finalist for the PEN/Fusion Award, she is a lecturer in the Writers' Centre at Yale-NUS College in Singapore.

Erika Martínez received a Fulbright Fellowship to edit Daring to Write: Contemporary Narratives by Dominican Women. Her writing appears in various anthologies and literary journals. She currently works at the National Writing Project.

Laura Joyce Davis won the Poets & Writers Exchange Award for fiction and a Fulbright scholarship. Her work has received honorable mention with Glimmer Train, been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and has recently appeared in the Arroyo Literary Review, Hobart, Runner’s World, and elsewhere.

Jeremiah Chamberlin teaches at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He is also the editor in chief of Fiction Writers Review, a contributing editor for Poets & Writers magazine, and a coauthor of Creative Composition. Most recently, he was a 2016–2017 Fulbright Research Scholar in Bulgaria.
