S197. Literary Players: Former Winners of the Playboy College Fiction Contest Share their Work

Since 1986, Playboy magazine has sponsored the College Fiction Contest. Each year, Playboy’s editors read thousands of entries and choose one undergraduate or graduate student’s story for inclusion in the October issue. Numerous winners and finalists have gone on to successful careers in writing. Join five previous winners for a look back at the award and a celebratory reading showcasing their work.

Moderator:

Don Peteroy is the author of the novella Wally and a PhD candidate in Creative Writing at the University of Cincinnati. His fiction has appeared in Playboy, Cream City Review, Eleven Eleven, Chattahoochee Review, Permafrost, and Ellipsis.

David James Poissant is the author of The Heaven of Animals, and his stories have appeared in the Atlantic, Playboy, and One Story. He teaches fiction writing in the MFA program at the University of Central Florida.

Chris Feliciano Arnold has written fiction, journalism, and essays for Playboy, the Atlantic, Salon, the Millions, the Rumpus, Los Angeles Review of Books, and other magazines and websites.

Michael Knight the author of two novels, Divining Rod and The Typist; two collections of short stories, Dogfight and Other Stories and Goodnight, Nobody; and a collection of novellas, The Holiday Season. He teaches creative writing at the University of Tennessee.
