Mel McCuin is a biracial, bisexual, genderfluid poet from Phoenix, Arizona. She received her MFA in creative writing from Northern Arizona University in 2014. She currently lives in Newark, New Jersey, where she works as a program coordinator for the LGBTQ and Intercultural Resource Center at Rutgers University–Newark. She is currently working on a book of poetry.

Mel McCuin worked with the poet Geffrey Davis.
