AWP Selected as Amazon Literary Partnership 2022 Grant Recipient

July 21, 2022

We are thrilled to announce that AWP has been awarded a $5,000 grant to support the Writer to Writer program, courtesy of the Amazon Literary Partnership. The Writer to Writer program spans three months and pairs emerging mentee writers with published AWP member mentors.

Founded in 2009, the Amazon Literary Partnership strives to support authors and provide them with the tools to create, publish, learn, and thrive. To date, the Partnership has granted over $15 million to over 160 literary organizations. Over $1 million has been awarded in this year alone.

“It’s an honor to fund these vital institutions that not only provide writers the support they need to create, but offer the opportunity to connect with their readers,” said Al Woodworth, Manager of the Amazon Literary Partnership. “Literature is expansive, entertaining, and advances our empathy and our world. We are grateful for the incredible work that these organizations do, today and every day.”

“Writer to Writer, a service program by AWP members to mentor diverse emerging writers, truly reflects AWP’s core values—to nurture writers’ craft and professional success while striving to support the diversity and excellence of the field,” said Cynthia Sherman, AWP executive director. “It is a testament to the incredible mentors and mentees that this program continues to thrive. We appreciate that Amazon Literary Partners recognizes and supports this program that focuses on writers helping writers.”
