The City of Philadelphia’s Department of Health update on December 14 states that beginning Monday, January 3, 2022, Philadelphia establishments that sell food or drink for consumption onsite will require that everyone who enters be fully vaccinated. This includes the Pennsylvania Convention Center and the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown where the #AWP22 Conference & Bookfair will be held.

COVID vaccines are one of the best ways to prevent and slow the spread of COVID-19. Paired with the City’s indoor mask mandate, the high rates of vaccination in Philadelphia have kept Philadelphia’s case rate among the lowest in Pennsylvania. In light of these changes, AWP will now require all in-person attendees be fully vaccinated. No negative COVID-19 diagnostic tests will be allowed in lieu of vaccination.*

If you have already purchased an in-person registration and now cannot attend #AWP22 due to this change, please email registration@awpwriter.org and we can offer you a credit equal to the difference between your in-person registration and a virtual registration. Due to an increase in recent emails, we may take up to two weeks to respond.

For those who cannot attend #AWP22 in-person for whatever reason, we encourage you to explore the possibility of a virtual registration with over 60 prerecorded events and select livestreamed events from the in-person conference.

To review the full policy, please visit the #AWP22 Health & Safety Policy.

*People with proof of valid religious or medical exemptions and children under five are exempt from Philadelphia's mandate.
