Quebec Writers’ Federation Releases Short List for Literary Awards

Gala posterThe Quebec Writers Federation has released the short list for the 2017 Quebec Literary Awards, which will be awarded mid-November, the Montreal Gazette reported. The awards honor English-language authors in Quebec, and recognize achievements in fiction, poetry, nonfiction, first books, children's and young adult literature, and translations. The winners will be honored at a gala on November 21.

Here are this year’s finalists:

The Paragraphe Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction

  • Heather O’Neill, The Lonely Hearts Hotel (Riverhead Books)
  • Cora Siré, Behold Things Beautiful (Signature Editions)
  • Kathleen Winter, Lost in September (Knopf Canada)

The A.M. Klein Prize for Poetry

  • Linda Besner, Feel Happier in Nine Seconds (Coach House Books)
  • Rebecca P?pucaru, The Panic Room (Nightwood Editions)
  • Erin Robinsong, Rag Cosmology (BookThug)

The Mavis Gallant Prize for Nonfiction
