Guggenheim Foundation Announces 2016 Fellows

Last week, the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation announced its fellowships for the year. The fellows are “appointed on the basis of prior achievement and exceptional promise, the successful candidates were chosen from a group of nearly 3,000 applicants.” Each fellow is awarded a $50,000 grant.

Of the 175 given out this year, 36 went to the following writers in the categories of fiction, general nonfiction, literary criticism, poetry, and science writing.
