2015 Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellows Announced

Jamila Woods (Ruth Lilly/Dorothy Sargent Winner)The Poetry Foundation has announced the recipients of the 2015 Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowships, which are open to United States poets who are between twenty-one to thirty-one years old.

The fellowship recipients include Nate Marshall, Erika L. Sánchez, Danniel Schoonebeek, Safiya Sinclair, and Jamila Woods, who each received $25,800. You can read their bios at the Poetry Foundation’s website.

The Poetry Foundation, publisher of Poetry magazine, seeks to encourage “a vigorous presence for poetry in our culture.” Furthermore, the fellowships were established in 1989 by Ruth Lilly “to encourage the further writing and study of poetry.”

The number of fellowships has grown from a single fellowship of $15,000, to two fellowships, and then to the current five fellowship amounts of $25,800 each.
