The first Vietnamese literary history museum, a three-story, almost 40,000 square-foot building, has just opened in downtown Ha Noi, according to Viet Nam News.

The Vietnamese Literature Museum, which is run by the Viet Nam Writers’ Association, features manuscripts, writing utensils, photos, documentaries, audio recordings, and statues of Vietnamese authors, which include writers of the feudal period, the anti-French revolution period, and the early twentieth century. The museum also has a computer with a search database available to visitors seeking more information.

“The museum is a place to recognise the efforts of great writers in writing their works and their creative ways,” said poet Huu Thinh, director of the museum and chairman of the Viet Nam Writers’ Association, to Viet Nam News. “During the 10-year period when the museum was being constructed, we received untold contributions of objects and materials on great writers.”

The museum, whose construction began in 2004, now has more than 40,000 objects and materials on approximately 1,000 writers, said Thinh, although the exhibition space only allows the display of about 3,500 of these objects at a time.

Located at Lane 275, Au Co Street, Ha Noi, the museum also has a 200-seat hall for events, conferences, and seminars, as well as thirty rooms for creative writing workshops.
