Jonathan Lethem Gets Creative with His Copyright

May 1, 2007

Jonathan LethemPublisher’s Weekly states that the author announced on his website that he is offering the film rights to his forthcoming novel to a filmmaker of his choosing, free of cost. The film rights for You Don’t Love Me Yet, from Doubleday, will belong to whoever delivers the best pitch. All he wants is 2% of the film’s final budget. The giveaway, according to Lethem, is an experiment to see what kind of film projects can be lined up and also to test the boundaries of traditional modes of copyright.
