Writer’s Bloq to Launch Bloqparty Reading Tour

September 28, 2012

Beginning November 4th in Cambridge, MA, and ending November 9th in New York City, Writer's Bloq is hosting a series of literary events, the Bloqparty Tour, to be attended by both writers and publishing professionals in six cities up and down the northeast coast. The Tour is sponsored in part by support via its Kickstarter campaign, which successfully reached its fundraising goal. Readers at each event will consist of the top-ranked writers from the Writer’s Bloq online writing community, which now boasts almost 1,500 members in just its first months of operation. All attendees will receive a free custom-edition Writer’s Bloq Moleskine notebook. After the event in Cambridge the tour will make stops in Princeton, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. before hitting New York City for closing celebrations.

“Our Bloqparty Tour will function like a traveling literary salon, hosting a series of intimate parties bringing literary groups and individuals together, to celebrate quality writing,” said Nayia Moysidis, CEO and Founder of Writer’s Bloq. “[Non-members should] attend for the people, the drinks, the writing, the art, the vibe.”

The Bloq’s first event, Unsolicited, took place in May in New York City at The Strand bookstore. Following the event, publishing professionals contacted half of the eight readers.

“Our personal belief is that talented writers have been seeking a home for their writing for quite a while, a central location to congregate, share their work, and host their portfolios,” said Moysidis. “Right now our focus is on creating as incredible a Bloqparty as possible, but we do have a few big announcements coming soon.”
