Meagan Macvie is a former college composition instructor and government communications director who now writes full-time and teaches writing workshops. She earned her MFA in creative writing (fiction) from Pacific Lutheran University and her BA in English literature and creative writing (poetry) from the University of Idaho. Much of her work is set in Alaska, where she grew up, including her debut novel, The Ocean in My Ears (Ooligan Press, 2017). In their starred review, Kirkus called the novel an “unforgettable journey to adulthood” and named it a 2017 Best Teen Historical Fiction. Macvie's short work has appeared in NarrativeBarrelhouse, and Fugue, among others.
