Catherine LaSota is a writer and the former Development Director for Electric Literature. Her interviews, reviews, and essays appear in Vice, CatapultElectric LiteratureThe Brooklyn Rail, and Literary Hub, among other places. Additional writing appears in Art in America and wigleaf, and she has served as an editorial reader for One Story and for A Public Space. As founder, curator, and host of the monthly LIC Reading Series in Long Island City, Queens, Catherine interviews and facilitates conversations between writers of various genres and career stages, and she has developed partnerships with venue LIC Bar and independent bookstore The Astoria Bookshop to support her events' readers. Catherine was previously the Assistant Director of the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society at Columbia University. She holds an MFA in Fine Arts-Sculpture from Parsons The New School for Design, and Bachelors of Arts in Art History and Studio Art from the University of Maryland, College Park.
