Ms Elmaz Abinader

Elmaz Abinader is author of a memoir, The Children of the Roojme: A Family’s Journey from Lebanon, a poetry collection, In the Country of My Dreams….  provides a collection of very specific dislocations, and she has written and performed several one-women plays: Country of Origin, Ramadan Moon, 32 Mohammeds, Voices from the Siege and The Torture Quartet.

Winner of a Goldies in Literature, a PEN/Josephine Miles Award, Elmaz has been a Fulbright Scholar and the winner of the Oregon Drammies for Country of Origin. She is the co-founder of VONA/Voices, a writing workshop for writers of color which is held every summer in Berkeley. Elmaz also teaches at Mills College and lives in Oakland, CA

Her new collection of poetry, This House, My Bones is coming out in October with Willow Press and was the Editor's Selection for 2013.
