Robert Paul Moreira teaches fiction and playwriting at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. He is the editor of ¡Arriba Baseball!: A Collection of Latina/o Baseball Fiction (2013). His award-winning short fiction, interviews, criticism, and scholarship has been published/is forthcoming in Southwest American LiteratureAethlonAzaharesLangdon ReviewCobalt ReviewLos Angeles Review of BooksSoccer and Society, and the anthologies SOL: English Writing From Mexico (2010); Along the River 2 (2012); and New Border Writing (2013). He is the recipient of two fiction awards from the Texas Association of Creative Writing Teachers; a Pushcart Prize nomination; the 2011 Wendy Barker Award; and the 2016 NACCS Tejas FOCO Fiction Award for his short story collection, Scores. He is currently completing his new story collection, Dig. Robert is the Managing Editor for riverSedge: a Journal of Art and Literature.

As a dramatist, Robert's plays include Roses From Castile, which was part of Milagro Theater's inaugural INGENIO Play Reading Series in Portland, Oregon in February of 2018. His monologue, Dick Tea, was a semifinalist in the 2018 STAGE IT! 2 Ten-Minute Play Competition. Proxima b, a ten-minute play, was recently published in Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas. Current projects include the book, music, and lyrics for Malinalli, in collaboration with composer Josiah Esquivel; Miriam's Song, a full-length play; and a children's play/musical on the life of DEA Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena.
