After completing her doctorate in Communication and Information Sciences at the University of Alabama, Emmy-winning producer/director Wendy Reed began to combine her passion for writing and story with her interests in science and medicine. She launched science writing seminars in the Honors Colleges in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham that taught future researchers, scientists, and health care professionals how to translate science into readable stories. When the pandemic hit, she took a position as Lead for registration at Birmingham’s Mass Covid-19 Vaccine Site and subsequently entered the Master’s in Public Health Program at University of Alabama in Birmingham. The State Council on the Arts Writing Fellow has over 30 years of writing, producing/directing, publishing, and teaching experience. S.he currently works as a Director in the Alabama BRAIN Lab.
