Maya Sonenberg is the author of the story collections Cartographies (winner of the Drue Heinz Literature Prize, 1989), Voices from the Blue Hotel (Chiasmus Press, 2007), and Bad Mothers, Bad Daughters which received the Richard Sullivan Prize for Fiction in 2022. Her chapbooks of prose and images include 26 Abductions (The Cupboard) and After the Death of Shostakovich Père (PANK Books).  More recent fiction and nonfiction have appeared in Fairy Tale Review, Web Conjunctions, DIAGRAM, New Ohio Review, The Literarian, and Hotel Amerika. She has received grants from the Washington State Arts Commission and King County 4Culture and teaches in the creative writing program at the University of Washington in Seattle.
