Lisa Roney is editor of The Florida Review and author most recently of a new multi-genre textbook, Serious Daring: Creative Writing in Four Genres, which reflects her twenty-plus years of respect for the well-done workshop as well as innovation in the Creative Writing classroom. She is also the author of The Best Possible Bad Luck, a poetry chapbook, and Sweet Invisible Body, a memoir. Her poetry, short fiction and creative nonfiction, and cultural criticism have appeared in The Southern Poetry Anthology, Numero Cinq, Saw Palm, Inside Higher Ed, Red Rock Review, Writing on the Edge, So to Speak, Sycamore Review, and Harper's, among others. Roney is also an award-winning teacher with an interest in issues of pedagogy and academic culture. She spearheaded an overhaul of the undergraduate Creative Writing curriculum at the University of Central Florida, where she is Associate Professor. With her previous experience as a professional editor, she has developed courses in book editing for writers and advised UCF's undergraduate literary magazine, the Cypress Dome.
