Timothy Sumner Seibles was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 7, 1955.  He taught high school in Dallas, Texas for 10 years before becoming a writing fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts.  He has been awarded an NEA fellowship for writing. He also received an Open Voice Award for poetry from the 63rd Street Y in New York City.  He is the author of five full-length collections of poetry: Body Moves (1988); Hurdy-Gurdy (1992); Hammerlock (1999); Buffalo Head Solos (2004); and Fast Animal (2102), which was a finalist for the 2012 National Book Award in poetry.  He was also awarded the Josephine Miles Pen Oakland for poetry-- also for Fast Animal. Since 1995, he has been full-time MFA and English Department faculty at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
