Vermont Studio Center residencies include: private, riverside writing studios in a shared studio building; private rooms; immersion in an international community of writers and visual arts in a rural town setting; and excellent meals featuring local Vermont produce, meat, bread, and cheeses.

The Vermont Studio Center offers residencies to visual artists and writers working in all genres.

Each VSC writing residency includes:

*A private studio in the Maverick Writing Studios building, overlooking the Gihon River, and includes a networked printer and wireless internet access.

*24-hour access to the Mason House Conference Room & Library.

*Resident Readings: writing residents may sign up for readings scheduled each month as an opportunity to share work.

*Visiting Writer Program


Featured Writers Include:

Each month, VSC residents have access to distinguished Visiting Writers, offering featured readings and craft talks as well as optional individual conferences. Writers also have access to Visiting Artists each month, in addition to an international community of fellow artists- and writers-in-residence.

Vermont Studio Center

The Vermont Studio Center offers residencies to visual artists and writers working in all genres, including poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, screenwriters, playwrights, and translators in Johnson, Vermont—a village located in the heart of the northern Green Mountains.

The center provides time and space to write, as well as readings, craft talks, and access to visiting writers each month. The residency fee includes a private room, private studio space, and meals. Full fellowships are available.

To apply, submit up to 10 pages of poetry or 15 pages of prose, a completed application, and an application fee. Visit our website for guidelines and fellowship deadlines.
