Four-week and two-week residencies include: private, riverside writing studios in a shared studio building; private rooms; immersion in an international community of writers and visual arts in a rural town setting; and three excellent meals per day featuring local Vermont produce, meat, bread, and cheeses.

VSC accepts 16 writers each month for poetry, fiction, and nonfiction residencies. Writers working in journalism, screen and playwriting, children's literature, or translation may also apply, but may not be eligible for special fellowship awards.

Each VSC writing residency includes:

*A private studio in the new Maverick Writing Studios building, including a networked printer and wireless internet access.

*24-hour access to the Mason House Conference Room & Library.

*Resident Readings: writing residents may sign up for one of the three readings scheduled each month as an opportunity to share work.

Each month, VSC residents have access to two distinguished Visiting Writers, each of whom gives a reading and a craft talk and offers optional individual conferences to those residents accepted in the Visitors' primary genre. Writers also have access to four Visiting Artists each month, in addition to an international community of 50+ artists- and writers-in-residence. Upcoming 2015 Visiting Writers include: Anthony Doerr, Phillip Lopate, Bonnie Jo Campbell, and

Jean Valentine.

Vermont Studio Center

The Vermont Studio Center offers 2- to 12-week residencies year-round to poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, screenwriters, playwrights, and translators in Johnson, Vermont—a village located in the heart of the northern Green Mountains.

The center provides time and space to write, as well as readings, craft talks, and conferences with two visiting writers each month. The fee for a four-week residency is $4,250, which includes a private room, private studio space, and meals. Full fellowships are available, as well as grant and service exchange aid to reduce the fee.

Using the online application system, submit up to 10 pages of poetry or 15 pages of prose, a curriculum vitae, contact information for two references, and a $25 application fee. The next deadline for full fellowships is February 15. Applications are also accepted on a rolling basis. Visit our website for an application and complete guidelines.
