EMERGE

Two weeks of free, supportive writing community, Wednesday, May 1 through Wednesday, May 15, 2024. This experience is both casual and profoundly effective, providing a truly humanizing, day-to-day picture of the ebbs and flows of the writing life. The free bonus links and resources shared at the end of each session have proven to be a favorite perk of this experience. This free program is sponsored by WRITEABILITY, a nonprofit writers guild, in defense of the imagination.

Join late, leave early, come to all sessions, come to a few sessions–there’s no wrong way to participate in EMERGE.

Livewriting is a mostly silent, real-time writing experience celebrating the creative process. It seems counterintuitive to come together, in silence, to write, but this gentle, collective accountability WORKS because we all experience the value of shared vulnerability. When that happens, writers start worrying less about harsh goals and, instead, focus on the validation they experience by being uplifted in their community and associating positive energy with the habit of writing.

EMERGE Creativity Bundle

Participants may choose to purchase the accompanying Creativity Bundle–a program to help writers cultivate self-awareness and joy, while nurturing habits that will deepen their creative practices. The package will include three live Zoom sessions of creative play, generative prompts, and Q&A sessions with award-winning author Katey Schultz, in addition to an extensive, engaging workbook of creative exercises. Through gentle, mindful practices–like meditation, movement, journaling, listening, reading, and art-making–you will learn how to care for and connect with your imagination, so that creativity flows more easily.

“Helping me revive my connection and deepen my commitment to creativity, EMERGE + Creativity Bundle was exactly what I needed at this point in my writing life. With exercises and engagement that loosened my mind, spirit, and words, I’m once again approaching this lifelong calling of mine as an adventure filled with possibilities.”
