Find out why Mary’s method of writing and revising is so popular among the thousands of writers she’s coached. Great for any stage or genre of book. Includes daily coaching and craft workshops and plentyof time to write, plus a great community to share meals, desert hikes, and writing discussion.

Books often start with a simple yearning to explore new territory: especially topics you find fascinating, characters who won’t leave you alone, and good stories. But manuscripts get unwieldy-- fast. Nine out of ten writers never finish their manuscripts because most first-time book writers get lost without good structure and planning.

Mary Carroll Moore, award-winning author of 13 books in three genres and a PEN/Faulkner nominee with decades of editing experience at publishing houses, will guide you through a simple and successful book-writing process that editors use to take your book from idea to publication. Explore the three pathways contained in all books—the event arc, the character arc, and the image arc—and learn about building strong chapters from ideas, or islands, of writing within each arc. By the end of the week, you’ll be ready to learn the special techniques that experienced writers use to craft transitions and theme.

This process both eases organization and makes a manuscript vivid and engaging to readers. Learn why strong structuring is the key to selling a book in today's competitive publishing industry.

Because Mary customizes the class to each writer, you can join at any level, from beginner to advanced, with any genre—nonfiction, memoir, or fiction.

Includes three craft workshops, daily coaching sessions, optional evening activities (image boards, freewriting from great prompts, and a chance to share your writing for feedback).

This workshop takes place at the MISA West campus at the Tanque Verde Ranch in Tucson, AZ.
