Time for inspiration, a quiet studio, a beautiful setting, and a stimulating community of artists working in diverse disciplines. Two-week and four-week residencies are offered between May and September for New York State artists and writers looking for quiet, supportive environment in which to focus on their craft.

We're looking for talented, serious and dedicated artists and writers, who are legal residents of New York State. We encourage established, mid-career and emerging artists, over the age of 21, to apply.

We offer three (3) month-long sessions between mid-May and late August and two (2) two-week sessions during the month of September. Each residency session includes the same combination of 5 people: 1 poet, 1 prose writer, 1 photographer or filmmaker, and 2 visual artists.

Prepared vegetarian dinners are served each weeknight. The residency is entirely free of charge. Small stipends are provided to help off-set personal expenses. Our 200 acre property also includes marked hiking trails. The small city of Ithaca is just 8 miles away.

Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts

The Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts supports visual and literary artists of New York State. We do this by providing all-expenses-paid, two- and four-week residencies between May and September, and by offering our five private apartments at very low cost for self-directed retreats between October and April.
