The 29th annual Postgraduate Writers' Conference of Vermont College of Fine Arts, home to the acclaimed low-residency MFA in Writing Program, is designed for experienced writers, with graduate degrees or equivalent preparation. We emphasize craft and process through small-group workshops limited to 5 or 6 participants, and pride ourselves on creating a supportive and welcoming writers' community.

Since 1996, Vermont College of Fine Arts has offered a unique summer gathering for postgraduate writers seeking a place to connect and recharge, and lift their literary practice and life to new levels. In 2023 we moved the Conference "up the road" from our historic Montpelier, VT campus to Champlain College in beautiful Burlington, and are excited to return to Champlain this year. At the heart of the immersive week is our small-workshop structure. Daily critique groups led by an award-winning faculty and limited to 5 or 6 participants encourage a degree of intimacy and intensive focus on each member's work that year after year leads attendees to rate this their all-time best workshop experience. Every participant has an individual consultation with faculty. The full schedule also features readings by faculty and participants, craft talks, generative writing sessions, shared meals and a variety of social events that help galvanize our vibrant, inclusive community. Visit our website for more details, and contact Ellen Lesser, Conference Director, with any questions.
