Summer Fishtrap is a week-long writer’s conference located in the heart of the Wallowa Mountains at the south end of Wallowa Lake – with workshops in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, memoir, and special workshops just for youth.

Your week at Summer Fishtrap includes personal instruction, craft talks, panel discussions, open mic readings, and breakout sessions. Fishtrap is happy to welcome Luis Alberto Urrea back to the Gathering as he kicks off the week with the Opening Address, and long-time Fishtrap friend and advisor, Molly Gloss presents the Keynote Address on Friday night. Be inspired by the beauty of the Wallowas, the community of writers, the connection with the faculty, and get some writing done.

Our flagship program, the annual Summer Fishtrap Gathering, brings writers of all ages and abilities together for a week of inspired writing workshops each July at Wallowa Lake in northeast Oregon.
