Each June, writers convene to explore the craft of writing in the context of urgent social questions through panel conversations, breakout sessions, and a keynote address--and, if they choose, intensive genre-specific workshops led by extraordinary author-educators.

Co-sponsored by Catapult, the Academy of American Poets, and Wick Poetry Center, the Festival is newly supplemented by panel conversations and breakout sessions exploring:

- Poetry & the Body

- Writing Memoir in an Age of Alternative Facts

- Teaching Writing in Times of Crisis

There will also be an opening keynote address from Kiese Laymon on the 2018 overall theme: Writing in Times of Crisis.

These new components of the festival will draw connections between the personal, the political, and the craft of writing--and are included in the cost of every registration level.

The new Explorations Registration option will make it possible to attend only these new components of the Festival, as well as faculty readings, open mics, and other events, fostering a vibrant, dynamic convening of writers from near and far.

Standard and Sponsored-Student registrants also enroll in a single four-day intensive workshop in creative nonfiction, fiction, or poetry.

Featured Writers Include:

Jennine CapĆ³ Crucet, francine j. harris, Eleanor Henderson, Hoa Nguyen, Mike Scalise
