Boldface Conference for Emerging Writers

THIS IS OUR TENTH ANNIVERSARY!!!! EARLY BIRD PRICING AVAILABLE January 1, 2019. The Boldface Conference for Emerging Writers offers an intensive and supportive writing experience--at a fraction of the cost of most writing conferences. Our mission is to serve new writers. The 2019 conference features Bryan Washington (fiction), Jason Koo (poetry), and Jessica Wilbanks (nonfiction). Featured writers are also available for manuscript consultations. Workshop leaders (TBA) offer daily workshops, craft talks, and master classes. The conference is organized by undergraduates at University of Houston, specifically the editors of Glass Mountain Magazine. All registration fees, donations and proceeds go to running the conference and publishing the magazine. Glass Mountain Magazine is an international undergraduate literary magazine produced at University of Houston's Creative Writing Program, Department of English. Started in 2006 by undergraduates interested in creating a venue for their fellow emerging writers, Glass Mountain Magazine has won awards and gone on to feature some amazing new voices. The Glass Mountain staff began the Boldface Conference for Emerging writers in 2009--also for the purpose of serving new writers across the country, both students and community members. We are proud to welcome new writers to the University of Houston and hope to do so for another ten years and beyond.
