The Martha's Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing is a nonprofit founded in 2010. Its purpose is to enrich the lives of writers by fostering creativity, community, and craft among established authors and poets. The Institute is also committed to enhancing the literary landscape of Martha's Vineyard for residents and visitors through our public reading series, writing seminars, and annual summer writers' conference.

Each summer, the Institute offers two comprehensive week-long sessions at the MVICW Writers' Conference (June 7-13th & 14-20th). Daily workshops in poetry and fiction, one-on-one manuscript consultations, panel discussions, readings, and a celebratory dinner with faculty all take place on the idyllic island of Martha’s Vineyard, providing writers with the time and community needed to devote themselves to their art. This upcoming summer, MVICW celebrates its 10th anniversary with visiting fiction and poetry writers: Adrian Matejka, Samrat Upadhyay, Amelia Martens, Britton Shurley, Tia Clark, Wendy Rawlings, Elizabeth Schmuhl, Keith Taylor, John T. Howard, and Alexander Weinstein. Tuition is $1075 per week, with lodging options in triple rooms for $625, double rooms for $775, and private rooms for $975. Space is limited and registration is first come, first served. Numerous fellowship opportunities are available including the Voices of Color Fellowships, Parent-Writer Fellowships, Teach! Write! Play! Fellowships for educators working with youth, and our new Queer-Writer Fellowships. Visit our website for comprehensive details about seminars, fellowships and registration.
