The Glen Workshop West, sponsored by Image journal, is an innovative and enriching program combining the best elements of a workshop, an arts festival, and a conference. Daily classes, taught by nationally known authors and artists, offer close attention to artists of all levels.

The Glen Workshop West is held at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Daily classes, taught by nationally known authors and artists, offer close attention to artists of all levels. Afternoons and evenings feature readings, lectures, concerts, and worship services incorporating the arts. Like its sponsor, Image, the Glen is grounded in a Christian perspective, but its tone is informal and hospitable to all spiritual wayfarers.

Classes are held concurrently each morning and are small enough to allow faculty to give close attention to each participant. Writing workshops combine general instruction and discussion with the workshop experience--each student's work is read and discussed critically. Visual arts students create new work throughout the week while also receiving individual and general instruction. Seminar classes explore a variety of topics via discussion and in-class creativity. Afternoons and evenings feature readings, lectures, and concerts. Each day concludes with a worship service incorporating the arts. Free time (including a free day) provides all participants opportunities for conversation, reflection, hiking, exploring the nearby attractions (downtown Santa Fe is just three miles away) and excursions to Taos and the pilgrimage site of Chimayo. The Glen also offers a retreat option for those who wish to join us for meals, readings, and worship, but prefer to spend mornings creating, exploring, or in contemplation.

See the separate listing for Glen East's sister program, Glen East, for info on our workshops in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
