As of Friday, February 26, 2022, the Center for Disease Control announced it is changing the recommendation for COVID-19 precautions in certain counties, and has created a tiered system for determining when masking and social distancing protocols may be eased.

While Philadelphia County is considered in the “Medium” risk tier, the City of Philadelphia has yet to remove the indoor masking guidelines. This may change in the coming weeks.

AWP has decided that even if Philadelphia were to lift their mask mandate, all attendees of the AWP Conference & Bookfair must still be masked while attending onsite AWP events at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. We are encouraged by the steadily decreasing numbers in cases, but want to err on the side of caution with our in-person participants. We also wanted to provide a measure of certainty about in-person policies for attendee piece of mind, even as the situation nationally is changing.
