Gregg Wilhelm is director of the Creative Writing Program at George Mason University, which offers both the BFA and MFA in creative writing. He is founder and director emeritus of CityLit Project--a nonprofit literary arts organization in Baltimore that produces an acclaimed annual festival, curates reading series, and conducts writers workshops--and serves as publisher of CityLit Press. He has been an editor, designer, marketer, and production manager for several independent presses.A graduate with the first cohort of the University of Tampa's MFA in Creative Writing program, Gregg has taught writing and publishing courses at George Mason, Loyola University, Community College of Baltimore County, University of Baltimore, and in the Odyssey program at Johns Hopkins University. Gregg was named "One to Watch" by Urbanite magazine, "40 Under 40" by the Baltimore Business Journal, and an Arts MVP by Baltimore magazine. Among many retreats and conferences, Gregg has participated in the Sewanee Writers' Conference, DISQUIET: International Literary Program in Lisbon, the first-ever Publishers Weekly delegation to Cuba, and the Northwoods Writers Conference in Minnesota. He has received a RUBYs Artist Grant (named after Creative Capital founder Ruby Lerner) and a Maryland Individual Artist Award, both for fiction. He has also served as a panelist reviewing grant applications for the National Endowment for the Arts, Maryland State Arts Council, and the RUBYs, and has served as a judge for Poetry Out Loud competitions in Maryland and Virginia.
