Tom Provost wrote the screenplay for Under Suspicion, a thriller starring Academy Award winners Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman, adapted from the French film, Garde A Vu. The screenplay was nominated for an Edgar Award. He wrote, directed and produced the independent feature The Presence, starring Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino. The movie won numerous Best Picture and Best Director awards on the festival circuit, where it was picked up for distribution by Lionsgate.
As a director, Tom has worked extensively in theatre, and has directed various television commercials and industrials. He has also worked as a film and television editor, cutting independent films, network television shows (Emmy Nomination) and hundreds of promos for Bravo and ABC Family. For his editing work he was honored with a ProMax award.
Tom also works steadily as a script doctor, for both independent and mainstream films. His website is cinemalanguage.org. A graduate of the Plan II Honors Program at The University of Texas at Austin, he majored in both Film Production and English. Tom currently is teaches Screenwriting and Adaptation in Pepperdine University's Graduate Screenwriting Program. He also writes the popular blog onfoodandfilm.com
