Dede Cummings is a writer, book designer, agent, publisher, and commentator for Vermont Public Radio. She started her publishing career at Little, Brown after graduating from Middlebury College where she was the recipient of the Mary Dunning Thwing Award for poetry, and in 1991 studied with Hayden Carruth at the Bennington Writers’ Workshop. She was a poetry contributor to the Bread Loaf Writers Workshop in 2013, and has been published in Mademoiselle, The Lake, INQuire, Vending Machine Press, Bloodroot Literary, Mom/Egg Review,, and Connotation Press. She was a Discover/The Nation poetry semi-finalist. Dede's first poetry collection To Look Out From was the recipient of the Homebound Publications Poetry Prize and was published in 2017. Her upcoming second poetry collection, entitled The Meeting Place, is due out from Salmon Poetry in 2018. She is also a published author of six nonfiction health and organic lifestyle titles and is currently at work on a creative nonfiction called “Spin Cycle.”" Dede lives in Brattleboro, Vermont, with her family where she runs the startup Green Writers Press.
