Beverly Lowry was born in Memphis and grew up in Greenville, Mississippi. The author of six novels, including The Track of Real Desires and three nonfiction books, including Crossed Over, A Murder A Memoir, and Harriet Tubman, Imagining a Life,she has also published nonfiction articles and book review in The New Yorker, Granta, The New York Times, the Harvard Literary Anthology, and other publications. Recipient of a Rockefeller grant, a Guggenheim fellowship and an NEA grant, she lives in Austin and teaches at the University of Houston at Victoria. Her next book will be nonfiction book, Four Girls, Austin and the Yogurt Shop Murders.
