Valerie Wallace is the author of House of McQueen, chosen by Vievee Francis for the Four Way Books Intro Prize, and the chapbook The Dictators' Guide to Good Housekeeping. Other awards include an Illinois Arts Council Literary Award, the Atty Award, the San Miguel de Allende Writers' Conference Award, and grants from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, the Barbara Deming Fund for Women, Ragdale Foundation, Vermont Studio Center, Illinois Arts Council, and others. She lives in Chicago, where she was on the editorial board of RHINO for six years, and leads workshops throughout the city. She adjuncts at Harold Washington College and is Associate Director, Communications, for the project Virtue, Happiness, & the Meaning of Life at the University of Chicago.
