Martha Amore teaches writing at the University of Alaska Anchorage. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Alaska Anchorage and a PhD in creative writing from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She has published stories in a number of journals and magazines, and in 2013, her novella "Weathered In" was published in the anthology Weathered Edge: Three Alaskan Novellas. She won a 2015 Rasmuson Individual Artist Award to complete her collection of short stories, In the Quiet Season, which was published by University of Alaska Press in 2018. Martha Amore and coeditor Lucian Childs are contributing editors of the University of Alaska Press anthology Building Fires in the Snow: A Collection of Alaska LGBTQ Short Fiction and Poetry, which was a finalist for a LAMBDA Literary Award. She is currently at work on a new book of Alaska stories.
