Olivia Kate Cerrone’s Pushcart Prize-nominated fiction won the Crab Orchard Review's Jack Dyer Fiction Prize. She is at work on a novel called DISPLACED.

The Hunger Saint (Bordighera Press, 2017), a historical novella about the child miners of Sicily, won a 2018 American Fiction Award for best novella, and was named a finalist in the 2018 International Book Awards and the 2018 Eric Hoffer Book Awards, including the Montaigne Medal. Kirkus Reviews praised The Hunger Saint as "a well-crafted and affecting literary tale." The Brooklyn Rail named it one of the "Best Books of 2017" and it was also listed as a 2017 Fiction Bestseller for six consecutive months on SPD Books.

She is the recipient of fellowships from the Hawthornden Castle International Retreat for Writers (Scotland), the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, the Ragdale Foundation, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the Vermont Studio Center, Starry Night Retreat, Gloucester Writers Center, Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, The Noepe Center Residency, Art Farm and the Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts and Sciences, where she was awarded a "Distinguished Fellowship" from the National Endowment for the Arts.

 

Cerrone earned an MFA in fiction from New York University and a BFA from the Writing, Literature and Publishing program at Emerson College.

She has taught creative writing at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, GrubStreet, Pioneer Valley Writers' Workshop, Writers Without Margins, New York University, Suffolk University, and Bunker Hill Community College.
