Donna Kaz is a multi-genre writer who is also known as the Guerrilla Girl, “Aphra Behn.” She is the author of, “UN/MASKED, Memoirs of a Guerrilla Girl On Tour,” named best book of 2017 by Devil’s Kitchen, and PUSH/PUSHBACK, 9 Steps to Make a Difference with Activism and Art (because the world’s gone bananas). Kaz has received the Yoko Ono Courage Award for the Arts and was named a “Notable Women in American Theatre” by the League of Professional Theatre Women. Her essays have appeared in Variety, Ms. Magazine, Bitch, Bust, Alternet, Role Reboot, The Dramatist, Lilith, The Sun, Little Patuxent Review, Theatre Topics and Women in Hollywood. Her plays/musicals have been produced around the world including "Stamina" (Best Ten Minute Plays of 2019 Smith and Kraus);  "JOAN" (Edinburgh Festival Fringe); “Food, the Musical” (Best New Musical Award, William Patterson University); "Performing Tribute 9/11" (Harlem Stage); "Feminists Are Funny" (Lincoln Center); "The History of Women in Theatre: Condensed" (Women Playwrights International, Dramalabet, Sweden); "Silence Is Violence" (Women’s Arts International Festival, UK) "If You Can Stand the Heat: The History of Women and Food" (City of Women Festival, Slovenia).  Kaz is the recipient of Venus Theatre’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Jerry Kaufman Playwriting Award, Boundary Stone Screenwriting Award and residencies at Yaddo, Ucross, Djerassi, Blue Mountain, Wurlitzer, Mesa Refuge and Marble House. She holds and MFA from Queens University of Charlotte. Kaz current work is “The Sweetgum Trilogy” – plays connecting humans and the natural world. She is a 2022/23 Winterthur Research Fellow where she is working on the first play of the trilogy about the life of landscape architect Marian Coffin. She lives on Long Island.
