Martha Serpas has published four poetry collections, Double Effect, The Diener, The Dirty Side of the Storm, and Cote Blanche. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Nation, Southwest Review, and in anthologies such as The Art of the Sonnet, Bearing the Mystery: Twenty Years of Image, and American Religious Poems. Veins in the Gulf, a documentary about Louisiana’s disappearing wetlands, also features her poetry. She is on the faculty of the Creative Writing Program at the University of Houston and is a hospital trauma chaplain.
