From workshop to marketplace, everyone agrees that constructive criticism is crucial. But what are the secrets to more meaningful feedback? Editors from two major publishing houses join with three of their writers to share the approaches and winning techniques that have worked best for them—in the industry and in the classroom. Whatever your experience or preferred genre, you'll hear specific strategies for offering criticism with a keener eye and listening with a more receptive ear.

Moderator:

Neil Connelly has taught writing for twenty years, including a decade running an MFA fiction workshop. Now at Shippensburg University, he advises the undergraduate journal the Reflector. He has published over a dozen short stories and five books. A collection and a third YA novel are forthcoming.

Cheryl Klein is the author of The Magic Words: Writing Great Books for Children and Young Adults. She is also the executive editor at Arthur A. Levine Books, an imprint of Scholastic Inc., and she has taught editing at the School of Professional Studies at New York University.

Shawn K. Stout is the author of several critically acclaimed books for young readers, including A Tiny Piece of Sky and the Penelope Crumb series. Shawn has an MFA in writing for children and young adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts.
