Award-winning transgender and gender nonconforming writers and poets bring you their newest and best work in this reading that jettisons tropes around queer and trans people to reveal an exciting and nuanced nascent trans literature. Pushing against convention, form, and your MFA workshop leader's advice, these authors represent some of the best work across the country in a variety of genres including poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. A salon of transgender, transgenre work!

Moderator:

Everett Maroon is a memoirist, humorist, and fiction writer. He is a member of the Pacific Northwest Writer’s Association and was a finalist in their 2010 literary contest for memoir. Everett is the author of a memoir, Bumbling into Body Hair, and a YA novel, The Unintentional Time Traveler.

Trace Peterson is a trans woman poet critic. Author of the poetry collection Since I Moved In, she is also editor/publisher of EOAGH and coeditor of the anthology Troubling the Line: Trans and Genderqueer Poetry and Poetics, which was a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award in 2014.

Kelli Dunham is an author, nurse, and ex-nun as well as the author of seven books of humorous nonfiction included the award-winning Boys Body Book and Girls Body Book, and the comically tragic Freak of Nurture.

Carter Sickels is the author of the novel The Evening Hour, and the editor of Untangling the Knot: Queer Voices on Marriage, Relationships & Identity. He is assistant professor of creating writing at Eastern Kentucky University.
