The narrative arts have a unique and powerful role to play in bringing people together, deepening empathy and creating shared experiences locally, nationally and globaIly. Leaders of GrubStreet, Literary Arts, and Narrative 4 will talk about the groundbreaking work they are doing to engage nontraditional audiences, widen participation in the literary arts, and partner with civic organizations to bring the power of narrative to unexpected places in unusual ways.

Moderator:

Eve Bridburg is the founder and Executive Director of Grub Street, one of the country’s leading writing centers. She is also a former literary agent with ZSH Literary agent where she has edited and sold bestselling and award-winning nonfiction and fiction.

Andrew Proctor is the Executive Director of Literary Arts, a nonprofit literary center in Portland, Oregon. Previously, he was the membership and operations director at PEN American Center, was an associate editor at HarperCollins publishers, and worked at the Canadian High Commission in London.

Marjan Kamali is the author of the novel Together Tea. She has an MFA in creative writing from NYU and an MBA from Columbia University. Together Tea was a Massachusetts Book Award Finalist, an NPR WBUR Good Read, and a Target Emerging Author Selection. It has been translated into several languages.
