A reading celebrating two journals' combined anniversary: Reading for St. Petersburg Review are Jeffery Renard Allen (The Song of the Shank) and Kadija George, editor of Sable magazine. Reading for Sable are Christian Campbell (Running the Dusk) and TK Ngugi. Elizabeth L. Hodges will moderate.

Moderator:

Elizabeth L. Hodges is editor of the print journal, St. Petersburg Review, www.stpetersburgreview.com, and the web journal, Springhouse Journal, www.springhousejournal.com. Her collection of poetry, Witchery, will be out this spring.

Jeffery Renard Allen is the author of five books of fiction and poetry, most recently the novel Song the Shank. He teaches in the writing program at University of Virginia. He has received many accolades for his work, including a Whiting Writers Award and a Guggenheim Fellowship.

Kadija Sesay is an award-winning literary activist, publisher of SABLE, and she’s edited numerous anthologies. Her poetry collection, Irki was shortlisted for the Glenna Luschei Prize for African Poetry. Her second, The Modern Pan Africanist’s Journey, received an Arts Council England R&D grant.

Thiong'o K. Ngugi is a California-based writer whose stories have been featured in Sable Lit Magazine and Wasafari. He has also written articles for the Guardian Nigeria, Foodbeast, and he has been featured in Business Insider.

Christian Campbell is the author of Running the Dusk, which won the Aldeburgh Prize and was a finalist for the Forward Prize for the Best First Collection. He has received awards and fellowships from Cave Canem, Bread Loaf, the Lannan Foundation, the Rhodes Trust, and elsewhere.
