The founders and directors of four small writers' conferences all launched in the last five years share their experiences and invite collaboration and discussion. We will discuss topics such as scouting and securing locations, acquiring resources, finances, marketing, programming, social life, merchandising, and all the logistics that go into starting a new writers' conference from scratch.

Moderator:

Matt Bondurant is the author of the novels The Night Swimmer, The Wettest County in the World (which became the movie Lawless), and The Third Translation. He has published short stories, poems, and articles in numerous publications, and in 2013, he signed a development deal with HBO.

Seth Brady Tucker is a writer and poet. He is author of the books, Mormon Boy and We Deserve the Gods We Ask For. His fiction recently won the Bevel Summers prize from Shenandoah, and his poetry won the Eric Hoffer Book Award. He volunteers and teaches in Denver.

Jerry Gabriel's first book, Drowned Boy, won the Mary McCarthy Prize. His second book is The Let Go. He directs the Chesapeake Writers' Conference in Maryland.
