Join us as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of River Styx, one of the oldest and most prominent independent literary organizations in the Midwest and regular contributor to Best American Poetry and Pushcart anthologies. Award-winning writers previously featured in River Styx magazine and its reading series will present their poetry and fiction. Moderator and River Styx editor Richard Newman, will briefly discuss the history and future of River Styx.

Moderator:

Richard Newman is the author of the poetry collections All the Wasted Beauty of the World, Domestic Fugues, and Borrowed Towns. For the last twenty years, he has served as editor of River Styx and co-director of the River Styx Reading Series. 

Joan Murray’s poetry volumes include: Swimming for the Ark: New & Selected Poems 1990-2015; Looking for the Parade (winner of the National Poetry Series Open); and Queen of the Mist (which earned her a Broadway Commission). Winner of two NEA fellowships, she is editor of The Pushcart Book of Poetry.

Cornelius Eady is the author of eight poetry collections including Victims of the Latest Dance Craze, winner of the 1985 Lamont Prize, and Brutal Imagination. He holds the Miller Chair at the University of Missouri and is co-founder of Cave Canem.

Kim Addonizio's new book is The Palace of Illusions, a collection of stories. She is the author of five poetry collections, two novels, and two books on writing poetry, The Poet's Companion (with Dorianne Laux) and Ordinary Genius. My Black Angel: Blues Poems & Portraits is forthcoming.

Andy Mozina’s most recent story collection is Quality Snacks. He has published fiction in numerous journals, including Tin House and the Southern Review. He teaches creative writing and literature at Kalamazoo College.
