F126. Remixing the Narrative Poem

Room 210A, Henry B. González Convention Center, Meeting Room Level
Friday, March 6, 2020
9:00 am to 10:15 am

The narrative poem is often associated with Western epics, which leads to the form being associated with the white male narratives at the core of the Western canon. The lack of space given to minority narrative poets mirrors the lack of space the literary community gives to minority narratives. This is a disservice to both the form and to the poetry community. This panel of minority poets will discuss their approaches to the narrative tradition and how they alter that tradition in their works.
